Problem Statement
Medweb aimed to bridge the gap in healthcare accessibility, particularly in underserved rural areas, by providing a seamless telemedicine solution. However, they faced significant challenges in ensuring smooth specialist referrals, secure patient data management, and seamless integration with existing healthcare systems. Additionally, they needed a user-friendly interface that catered to both patients and healthcare providers while maintaining high performance, security, and scalability.

Challenges
- Inefficient Specialist Referrals: The lack of a streamlined referral system made it difficult for patients to connect with the right specialists quickly.
- Complex User Experience: Existing solutions were not intuitive, leading to difficulties for both patients and healthcare providers in navigating the platform efficiently.
- Performance Bottlenecks: Handling high volumes of concurrent users without latency issues was a major challenge, affecting real-time consultations and system responsiveness.
- Data Security Risks: Ensuring the protection of sensitive patient information against cyber threats and unauthorized access required robust security measures.
- Integration Hurdles: Seamlessly integrating with RIS/PACS, Electronic Health Records (EHR), and other third-party services was critical but posed technical and compatibility challenges.
- Scalability Constraints: The system needed a scalable architecture to accommodate future growth, new features, and an expanding user base without performance degradation.
Our Solutions
To address Medweb’s challenges, we developed a robust telemedicine platform with seamless specialist referrals, high security, and smooth integration with healthcare systems. Using React Native for cross-platform accessibility and Node.js for backend efficiency, we ensured high performance and scalability. We integrated WebRTC for real-time video consultations, secure messaging with TLS & AES encryption, and automated prescription management. The platform featured EHR integration via HL7 and FHIR standards, along with third-party services like Twilio and SendGrid. HIPAA compliance was ensured through end-to-end encryption and OAuth 2.0 authentication. Deployed on AWS with Docker and Kubernetes, the solution enhanced patient engagement, optimized operational efficiency, and provided a future-ready healthcare ecosystem.
Features
- Real-Time Video Consultations: High-quality video conferencing between patients and doctors using WebRTC.
- High-Quality Image sharing: Images will be taken by an app that ensures high focused, ambient light in the images.
- EHR Integration: Seamless integration with various Electronic Health Records systems using HL7 and FHIR standards.
- Secure Messaging: Encrypted messaging using TLS and AES encryption for secure communication between patients and healthcare providers.
- Prescription Management: Digital prescription generation and medication tracking with integration to primary care provider.
